Gospel Reflection & Homily

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
If Jesus stood before you today and asked, “Who do you say that I am?” how would you respond, not with words borrowed from a catechism or sermon, but from your heart?
In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks His disciples this very question. Peter responds, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus blesses him and gives him a mission: “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.”
Faith is not simply about saying the right thing; it is about living it. Peter’s confession became a life of discipleship, leadership, and sacrifice.
The same question is asked of us today.. husbands, wives, parents, youth, singles, and especially those called to evangelization: Who do you say that Jesus is?
To husbands: Providing is important, but Christ also calls you to be spiritually present and emotionally involved. Be a rock of faith your family can lean on.
To wives: Through your love, patience, strength, and prayer, you can anchor your home in Christ.
To those who serve in evangelization: Your answer cannot simply be a lesson, a program, or a flyer. It must be a living witness.
Step outside our safe spaces and meet people where they are. Prioritize people over programs and hearts over checklists. Before asking someone what they can do for the ministry, ask, “How are you doing? How is your soul today?”
Be a bridge, not a barrier. Share your story of how Jesus has changed your life. Let your joy, genuine care, and unconditional love reflect the living God.
Whether we are leading a family or a ministry, let us answer Jesus not only with our lips, but with our lives by the way we love, serve, and sincerely care for one another.
